Reduce an MP3’s size by choosing a lower bitrate than the source file. The tool is used from your browser and the file is processed on the server.
Recompression and quality
The available settings are 64, 128 and 192 kbps. A lower bitrate can reduce size, but re-encoding an MP3 adds loss: keep the original and avoid repeatedly recompressing the same copy. The form does not offer a mono/stereo selector.
File processing
The file is uploaded and processed on the server. Processing deletes the original when it finishes; the MP3 is deleted after a complete download or through temporary-file cleanup. Technical conversion data is logged.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the result not smaller?
Choosing a bitrate equal to or higher than the source can leave the size unchanged or increase it. Compare the result and use a lower setting if the quality is still suitable.
Does the compressor increase or normalize volume?
No. It changes encoding and bitrate; use an audio editor to adjust volume.
